Biography of Lawrence A. Kaplan

Kaplan  received his BS in chemistry  from Queens College (City University of New York, CUNY), his Ph.D. in biochemistry from Indiana University, and received a National Cancer Institute postdoctoral fellowship to study molecular virology at Baylor University's College of Medicine in Houston. 

He served as Clinical Professor of Pathology at New York University and as Director of the Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology Laboratory at Bellevue Hospital Meical Center in New York. He has been a laboratory manager and director for over 20 years and has edited eight books in clinical laboratory science. Dr. Kaplan is a recognized leader in the field of clinical biochemistry, having served as president of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry in 1997.
